The Ultimate Guide to Manifesting with ChatGPT (Step-by-Step + 20 Prompts)

By Samantha Warren

ChatGPT is the most enthusiastic hype girl you’ll ever meet… LOL. Tell it you want to quit your job, move to Bali and sell a $2,000 course to an audience you don’t have yet, and it will tell you that’s a beautiful vision and hand you a 12-step plan with emojis.

That’s lovely for about five minutes, and it’s also the reason most people who try to manifest with ChatGPT end up with a cute script, a burst of motivation and the exact same life two weeks later.

So here’s the short answer to the question you typed into Google. To manifest with ChatGPT, you use it to get specific about what you want, to see who you’d have to be to hold it, to catch the patterns that contradict it, and to turn all of that into small actions you check in on every week. The magic lives in the order you do those things and in teaching ChatGPT to push back on you instead of cheering you on.

This guide is the full version of how I do it. You’ll get the setup I recommend, the 5-step prompt flow (where each answer feeds the next prompt), how to stop ChatGPT from just flattering you, how to turn the whole thing into business decisions, and 20 prompts organized by stage. Grab a coffee, because this one is long on purpose.

Before we dive in: if you want the full method in one place, I put it into a free workbook, Manifest with ChatGPT: the prompt method for collapsing time. It shows you how to use ChatGPT as a mirror for your own patterns, so you can see what’s in the way sooner and move toward the life you’re calling in.

Inside, you’ll get:

  • The method: how I use ChatGPT as a mirror, and the 3 kinds of time it can help you collapse
  • A setup prompt so ChatGPT knows your life and goals before you start
  • The 5-part prompt formula I use to get real answers instead of generic affirmations
  • 6 prompt stacks that take one desire through desire, belief, evidence, identity leaks, behavior and feedback
  • A follow-up toolkit and notes pages so you can keep going once the first answers come back

Pop your name and email in below and I’ll send it straight to your inbox.

What manifesting with ChatGPT actually means

Manifestation, the way I practice it, is intention + attention + emotional alignment + consistent action over time. I teach it as three keys that happen in a specific order: clarity, alignment and action. I’m practical with a dash of woo-woo over here, so I believe in the energy piece and I also believe you have to get out of bed and do something.

ChatGPT is useful for manifesting because it’s really good at the parts of that process we’re bad at on our own. We’re bad at seeing our own patterns, because we’re inside them. We’re bad at turning a big, beautiful vision into a Tuesday afternoon to-do list. And we’re very bad at noticing when the things we do all week quietly contradict the things we say we want.

I call those contradictions identity leaks: a pattern you keep repeating that quietly contradicts what you say you want, like discounting when you’re trying to earn more. The best way I can describe ChatGPT’s role is a mirror that reflects your own words back at you, organized, so you can finally see them. It can’t predict the future or make anything happen on its own, and that’s fine, because seeing clearly is the part most of us are missing. (If you want the longer story of how I think about AI as a mirror, I wrote about it in How I Use ChatGPT to Manifest Faster & Collapse Time.)

Why most “manifest with ChatGPT” advice keeps you wishing

If you’ve searched this before, you’ve seen the pattern. Someone shares the viral “write me a day in my dream life” prompt, ChatGPT writes you a gorgeous morning in a linen set with a matcha and a fully booked calendar, and you feel amazing. Then nothing changes, because the prompt only covered the first key (clarity) and skipped the two that actually move things.

There’s a second issue nobody mentions. ChatGPT is built to be helpful and agreeable, which means it tends to validate whatever you bring to it. OpenAI has even said publicly that it rolled back a 2025 update because the model had become too flattering.

When you’re manifesting, a tool that agrees with everything is a tool that will happily help you script a life your current habits can’t hold.

I learned this the long way, before I had ChatGPT. When I started my agency, I scaled quickly to 20+ clients, and I was sometimes up until 6 or 7 in the morning working. On paper I was manifesting everything I’d asked for. In reality, I was saying yes to every client and making decisions from scarcity, and I had confused being flexible with being available. If I’d had a tool back then that pointed out the gap between what I said I wanted (freedom) and what I kept doing (more clients, more hours), I think I would’ve seen it years earlier. That’s the version of ChatGPT this guide teaches you to build.

Does manifesting with ChatGPT actually work?

ChatGPT doesn’t have special powers, so it works as well as the method you run through it. The good news is that two parts of my method line up with some of the most studied goal research in psychology.

The first is if-then planning, where you decide in advance exactly what you’ll do when a specific moment shows up (“If I get a discovery call request, then I’ll send my full-price proposal within 24 hours”). A meta-analysis of 94 tests found that if-then plans had a medium-to-large effect on people actually reaching their goals (Gollwitzer & Sheeran, 2006).

The second is mental contrasting, which means picturing the outcome you want and then honestly naming what’s in the way. A 2021 meta-analysis of 21 studies with more than 15,000 people found that pairing mental contrasting with if-then plans had a small-to-medium effect on reaching goals, with a stronger effect when people did it with another person than on paper alone, and the authors note the true effect may be a bit smaller than reported (Wang, Wang & Gai, 2021).

To be honest about where the science stands, nobody has proven that manifestation works. The steps “picture it, name what’s in the way, decide what you’ll do when it shows up” do have real research behind them, and ChatGPT happens to be a great partner for every one of those steps, because it’s the closest thing most of us have to “doing it with another person” at 11pm on a Sunday.

Step 0: Set it up once (your “Become Her” project)

Before you run any prompts, give ChatGPT a home for this work. Create a Project (I’d call it “Become Her”) and paste a few instructions into the project instructions so you don’t have to repeat yourself every session. Keeping it in one place also means ChatGPT can refer back to what you said last week, which is where the pattern-spotting gets really good.

Here’s what I’d paste in:

  • Who you are and what you’re building. Two or three sentences about your life, your business and the season you’re in.
  • What you want this year. Your top three desires, written as specifically as you can.
  • How you want it to talk to you. “Ask me clarifying questions before you give advice. Don’t agree with me by default. When something I say contradicts something I’ve said before, point it out. Keep answers short and practical.”

The 5-step prompt flow

Most guides give you a list of prompts. A list is fine, and there are 20 of them further down, but the real shift happens when you run them as a flow, where each answer becomes the raw material for the next prompt. Here’s the sequence I use, and it maps onto my three-step method: Become her, Build the channel and Let it flow.

1) Get specific about the desire (clarity)

Start messy. Voice-note or type everything you want, without editing yourself, then let ChatGPT organize it.

Prompt: “Here’s everything I want right now, in no particular order: [paste]. Ask me up to five questions to make this more specific. Then group it into my top three desires, each written as one clear sentence with a number, a timeline or a concrete detail.”

If you want more help with this step, my Ultimate ChatGPT Dream Life Prompt goes deeper on getting clear.

2) Meet the version of you who already has it (identity)

Now take desire number one and ask who you’d have to be. This is where self-concept comes in, and it’s the step most people skip.

Prompt: “Take my first desire. Describe the woman who already has this as an ordinary part of her life. What does she believe about herself? What does she do on a normal Tuesday? What does she say no to? What would feel boring to her that feels scary to me?”

3) Find the leaks (alignment)

This is the step that makes this whole guide different, so give it time. You’re going to give ChatGPT evidence from your actual life and ask it to compare that evidence to the woman from step 2.

Prompt: “Here’s what I actually did this past week, including the money, client and visibility decisions: [paste]. Compare it to the woman you described. Where do my actions contradict what I say I want? Name the pattern, give me the evidence, and tell me what it might be protecting me from. Be direct.”

When I do this, the answers are rarely dramatic. They sound like “You said you want to raise your prices, and you offered a discount twice this week before anyone asked for one.” That’s an identity leak, and it’s so much easier to fix once you can see it written down.

4) Turn it into if-then plans (action)

Take the top one or two leaks and build if-then plans around them, because this is the part with the research behind it.

Prompt: “For the top two patterns you found, write me an if-then plan for each one: ‘If [the moment the pattern usually shows up], then I will [one small, specific action].’ Keep each action under 15 minutes.”

5) Check in every week (feedback)

Manifestation is a feedback loop. Once a week, come back to the same Project and close the loop.

Prompt: “Here’s what happened this week with my if-then plans: [paste]. What worked, what didn’t, and what’s the one adjustment for next week? Also tell me if anything I wrote this week contradicts my top three desires.”

That’s the whole flow. It takes about 20 minutes the first time and about 10 minutes for the weekly check-in, and it gets more useful every week because ChatGPT has more of your own evidence to work with.

How to stop ChatGPT from just flattering you

Because ChatGPT leans agreeable, you have to give it permission (and instructions) to be honest with you. These are the lines I’d keep in your project instructions or paste at the end of any prompt.

  • Ask it to ask first. “Before you answer, ask me up to three clarifying questions.” This stops it from filling the gaps with generic advice.
  • Ask for the counterargument. “What’s the strongest case that I’m wrong about this?” It will give you one, and it’s often the most useful paragraph in the whole chat.
  • Ask it to compare words to evidence. “Compare what I say I want to what I actually did this week.” Flattery has nowhere to hide when it’s looking at your calendar.
  • Ask for a confidence level. “How confident are you in this, from 1 to 10, and what would change your answer?”
  • Notice the hype. When an answer makes you feel amazing and gives you nothing to do, that’s your cue to push back.

And one honest note from me: I primarily use Claude, and I use ChatGPT for some things, especially research. Every prompt in this guide works in either one, so use whichever you already open every day. The method matters more than the app.

Turn it into business decisions

Here’s where manifesting with ChatGPT gets really practical for those of us building a business. The same flow that shows you a self-concept leak can show you a business leak, because so many of them are the same thing.

Once you’ve found your patterns, ask ChatGPT to translate them into decisions:

  • Pricing: “Based on the leaks you found, what’s one pricing decision the woman I described would make this month?”
  • Offers: “Looking at everything I’ve told you, which of my offers fits the life I want, and which one am I keeping out of fear?”
  • What to drop: “What’s one thing I’m doing every week that the future version of me wouldn’t do at all?”

This is the second step of my method (Build the channel), and it’s where so many manifesters get stuck. They get clear on the vision and then try to hold it inside a business that needs them every minute. Your vision needs somewhere to land, and that’s a business structure that makes money without needing you to be on call for it.

20 ChatGPT manifestation prompts by stage

Use these on their own or drop them into the flow above. Swap in your own details wherever you see brackets.

Become her (identity and clarity)

  • 1) “Here’s everything I want: [paste]. Ask me five questions, then turn it into three specific desires.”
  • 2) “Describe a normal Tuesday for the woman who already has [desire].”
  • 3) “What does she believe about money, clients and being seen that I don’t believe yet?”
  • 4) “What would feel boring to her that feels scary to me?”
  • 5) “Write a short script of my life one year from now, in my own voice. Here’s a sample of how I write: [paste].”
  • 6) “Turn my top desire into one sentence I can write every day, specific enough that I can tell when it’s happened.”
  • 7) “Ask me the five questions my future self would want me to answer this month.”

Build the channel (structure and action)

  • 8) “Here’s what I did this week: [paste]. Where do my actions contradict what I say I want?”
  • 9) “Write an if-then plan for each of my top two patterns, with actions under 15 minutes.”
  • 10) “What’s the simplest path from where my business is now to [desire]? Give me the fewest steps possible.”
  • 11) “Which of my offers fits the life I want, and which am I keeping out of fear?”
  • 12) “What’s one pricing decision the woman I described would make this month?”
  • 13) “What’s one thing I’m doing every week that she wouldn’t do at all?”
  • 14) “Turn my top desire into a 30-day plan with one small action per week.”

Let it flow (receiving)

  • 15) “Where am I blocking money or help from coming in? Look at how I responded to the last few opportunities: [paste].”
  • 16) “What’s the most likely way I’ll talk myself out of this when it starts working?”
  • 17) “Write me an if-then plan for the moment someone says yes to my full price.”
  • 18) “Here’s what happened this week: [paste]. What worked, what didn’t, and what’s the one adjustment?”
  • 19) “What evidence from this month shows that I’m already becoming her?”
  • 20) “Compare my last four weekly check-ins. What pattern do you see that I keep missing?”

FAQ

1) Can you really manifest with ChatGPT?

You can use ChatGPT to do the parts of manifesting that move things: getting specific, seeing who you’d have to be, catching the patterns that contradict what you want, and planning small actions. The research on if-then plans and mental contrasting suggests those steps help people reach goals. ChatGPT can’t predict the future or make anything happen on its own.

2) Is it bad to manifest with AI?

I don’t think so. ChatGPT is a tool for reflecting your own words back to you, the same way a journal or a good friend does. Keep your intuition in charge, and if an answer doesn’t feel right in your body, trust that over the screen.

3) Can ChatGPT write my manifestation script?

Yes, and it’ll do a much better job if you give it your real goals, real numbers and a sample of your own writing, so the script sounds like you.

4) What’s the best ChatGPT prompt for manifestation?

The one that uses your own evidence. My favorite is step 3 of the flow: paste in what you actually did this week and ask ChatGPT where your actions contradict what you say you want.

5) How do I use ChatGPT to manifest money?

Run the flow with a money desire, then use the business decision prompts above. Most money leaks show up in pricing, discounting, overdelivering and avoiding the sale, so give ChatGPT real examples of those moments.

The method behind it

Here’s what I want you to take away…

ChatGPT will cheer you on all day if you let it, and that feels good for about five minutes. The version that actually changes your life is the one you’ve taught to ask questions, compare your words to your week and hand you one small action at a time. Get specific, meet her, find the leaks, plan the moment and check in every week. Do that for a month and you’ll start to notice you’re making the decisions she would make, which is the whole point, because the woman who makes her decisions gets to have her life.
