The Missing Step in Manifestation (& the 4-Part Framework That Fixes It)

By Samantha Warren

In 2025, I made one of the hardest decisions of my business. I stopped scaling the marketing agency I’d started in 2021, burned the whole model down, and rebuilt as a solo consultant, and I had zero evidence it was going to work. There was no spreadsheet, no audit, and no strategy telling me, “Yes, Sam, this is the right move.” I had to make the decision before the proof showed up, and I learned one of the biggest manifestation lessons of my life in the process.

If you’re an ambitious woman (the natural-born leader who always ended up running the group project), I think this lesson is for you. You know deep down you’re destined to succeed, and right now something about your life or your work isn’t fulfilling you anymore.

You know something needs to change, and for some reason you’re waiting for permission to make the big scary move, whether that’s asking for more money, outgrowing the thing, or finally taking yourself seriously. If that hit a little close to home, there’s a piece of the manifestation puzzle you might be missing, and that’s what this post is about.

If you’d rather watch than read, the full video is right here:

Belief is only half of the manifestation equation

A lot of manifestation advice tells you to believe in yourself and believe your manifestation is on its way before there’s any evidence of it. That’s part of the equation. The other part is what you do with that belief.

The belief should make you act differently and notice different things. And when the opportunity finally shows up, all that belief work should make you actually take the leap. If you never move, you stay stuck exactly where you are, still unfulfilled, still tired of your reality, still wanting more, with a block sitting right in front of you.

I call that block an identity leak: a behavior that contradicts the life you say you want. This is where so many women lose the plot with what they’re working toward. The belief work opens your eyes to what’s already there, and the identity leak decides whether you walk through the door or stay on the other side of it.

The lesson I had to learn the hard way

Let me back up. In 2021, I said “screw it” to my 9 to 5, started my own marketing agency, and became self-employed. That agency worked. I made real money, I had multiple five-figure months, and over the years I served 100+ clients.

By 2025, it all came to a head. I didn’t want to run a marketing agency anymore. The business model wasn’t for me, I didn’t enjoy the day-to-day, and I’d structured the whole thing in a way that drained my energy instead of fueling it. I was completely out of alignment and unhappy, so I decided to stop scaling it the way I knew how and rebuild.

Making that decision with no evidence was so uncomfortable for me, and I’m sure you can relate. A lot of high-achieving women want the justification first. We want the evidence before we make a big decision, because that feels like the logical, responsible way to do it. Honestly, it can be such a curse, because the list of what we’re waiting for never ends:

  • We’ll ask for more once we have just one more result.
  • We’ll publish when the draft finally feels polished.
  • We’ll apply when we have a few more credentials.

With manifestation, you have to decide who you are before the real-world evidence catches up, or you’ll stay stuck right where you are. No one is coming to save you, and no one is coming to decide for you. You get to make the leap and decide for yourself.

If I’d waited for permission, I never would have started my business in the first place, because I didn’t have much support in the beginning. People kept calling it my “little business,” and some wouldn’t even call it a business at all. It was my little thing, my little side business, whatever. I believed it was a real business anyway, and I truly think that’s why it flourished.

If you’re reading this and already thinking of the permission you’ve been waiting for, hold onto that thought. I have a free tool that helps you find exactly where your identity leaks are, so you can see what’s been keeping you on the wrong side of the door.

identity leaks audit

It’s called the Identity Leaks Audit, and it’s free inside my Paid to Be Her community. An AI-assisted audit interviews you across a few different areas of your life and business, then shows you where your actions need to tighten up so you’re actually moving toward the life you desire.

The 4-part framework for walking through the door

Here’s the framework I use to explain how this works, and how to bust your identity leaks for good. The four parts happen in order, and each one feeds the next.

Part 1: The belief shift

The belief shift is about who you decide you are before anyone else acknowledges it. You decide before there’s enough outside proof to make the belief comfortable. You decide you belong in the room with seven-figure entrepreneurs before you’ve made your first million.

This matters so much because the belief changes what you’re willing to do to get there. Here’s the honest truth: wanting something and believing you can move toward it are two very different feelings. You can want the bigger business, the bigger salary, the visibility, and the freedom, and if you don’t believe you’re worthy of any of it, you’ll stay right where you are.

Part 2: The behavior shift

The behavior shift is where the belief stops being an airy-fairy thing you say and turns into action. That looks like:

  • Hitting post on the thing before you feel ready.
  • Applying for the job you feel way underqualified for.
  • Saying no to an opportunity that pays well, because succeeding in it would require you to abandon yourself.

These behaviors are all byproducts of the belief. The belief shapes what you tolerate, what you pursue, what you ask for, and what you stop doing, and every one of those choices creates new evidence about your identity. You start acting like the woman of your dreams before you actually become her.

Part 3: The noticing

This is where something really interesting happens. Once your belief and your behavior shift, you start noticing different things around you: opportunities, experiences, and things in the 3D world that are relevant to you now and weren’t before. That happens because your awareness shifted, even though the world around you stayed exactly the same.

Say you want to become a public speaker and grow your speaking career. Maybe you spot a conference application for a speaking slot that you would have scrolled right past 6 months ago, because back then it wasn’t relevant to you.

Or say you decide you want higher-paying clients. Suddenly you notice opportunities and conversations you would have completely overlooked before, you sell your services differently, and the way you talk about your offers changes because you’re attracting a more premium clientele.

(Both of those are examples, by the way, so swap in whatever you’re calling in.) The thing to remember is that those opportunities were always there. The belief changed your behavior, and your behavior changed what you notice.

Part 4: The identity leak

Parts one through three are pretty standard manifestation advice, and you’ve probably heard some version of them before. Part four is the missing step, because noticing the door to your dream opportunity and walking through it are two separate moves. This is where identity leaks come in.

An identity leak is a behavior that contradicts the life you say you want. Here’s what that can look like:

  • You want premium clients, and you discount your price before anyone has a chance to object.
  • You want more visibility online, and the moment your Instagram views dip or a post gets two likes, you ghost your audience.
  • You want a raise or more money, and you soften the request the second you finally get the chance to ask.

This is where you can completely self-sabotage your manifestations. Whenever you let an identity leak win, you’re making a decision from the old version of you, the one you’re trying to grow out of.

And this is where the framework comes full circle. The belief was the catalyst that helped you see the opportunity, and the identity leak is what kept you from walking through the door. Belief can change how you see yourself, and eventually there has to be an ask, an action, an application, a pitch, or a decision. Belief without behavior stays stuck in your head as a nice fantasy.

WHY THE RESULTS START COMPOUNDING

I think this is exactly why some women reach a point where this framework feels natural and their results start compounding. They’ve practiced the new identity enough that when the opportunity shows up, they walk right through the door and past the identity leak. And the thing that strengthens a belief most is evidence, so as the results stack up, the belief gets stronger and stronger, because now you have proof to support it.

Journal prompts to put the framework to work this week

Think about something you’re calling into your reality right now. Maybe it’s money, a new career, a business, or a completely different life. Journal on these, meditate on them, or use whatever modality you love.

  • FOR THE BELIEF SHIFT: What would I need to believe about myself for this to feel normal?
  • FOR THE BEHAVIOR SHIFT: If I genuinely believed that, what would I change about my behavior this week?
  • FOR THE NOTICING: Then pay attention. Notice what opportunities come through, what ideas you get, and most importantly, where your identity leaks are. The only way to overcome an identity leak is to become aware of it first, so look for the places where your behavior contradicts the life you say you want, and be willing to call yourself out (lovingly) when you’re not making the moves you need to make.

FAQ

1) Why isn’t my manifestation working even though I believe it?

Belief is only the first part. If your behavior hasn’t shifted to match the belief, or an identity leak stops you when the opportunity shows up, the manifestation stays stuck in your head. Look at what you’re doing, what you’re noticing, and where you’re pulling back at the last second.

2) What is an identity leak?

An identity leak is a behavior that contradicts the life you say you want, like discounting before a client objects, ghosting your audience when views are low, or softening your ask for a raise. It’s a decision made from the old version of you.

3) Do I need evidence before I make a big decision?

I made one of my biggest business decisions with no evidence at all. With manifestation, you decide who you are before the real-world evidence catches up, and your actions create the evidence from there.

4) What are the 4 parts of the framework?

The belief shift (deciding who you are before anyone else acknowledges it), the behavior shift (acting on that belief), the noticing (seeing opportunities that were always there), and the identity leak (the behavior that decides whether you walk through the door).

5) How do I find my identity leaks?

Start with the journal prompts above and watch for moments when your behavior contradicts what you say you want. If you’d like more structure, the free Identity Leaks Audit in the Paid to Be Her community uses AI to interview you and point out where your leaks are.

Here’s what I want you to take away…

Believing in your manifestation opens your eyes to what’s already there, and your behavior is what gets you through the door. So if something in this post lit a fire under you, it’s time to make moves. Take the aligned action, and please don’t let this idea sit in your notes app for 6 months. You have all the power in your hands to do it, and you get to become the woman who decides first and lets the evidence catch up.

calling to cash

Ready to take identity all the way to action? Start Calling to Cash.

If this made you realize you want to move forward and you’re not sure which direction to take in life or business, I have a free challenge for you. Calling to Cash is my free 3-day challenge inside the free Paid to Be Her community.

First, we identify your calling, which is the intersection of your skills, experiences, interests, and passions (you could also call it your life purpose). Then we map it to income paths you could use to monetize it, because when you monetize your calling, you get to spend your days doing work you love instead of working a job you hate. On day three, you’ll create a road map that turns those income paths into a 7-day test, so you can see whether a path is truly aligned for you. You’ll leave with your Calling Map, Cash Path Map, and Aligned Path Plan.

I created this challenge because I spend my days doing what I love, and I think everyone should get to do the same. I put my heart and soul into it, and it’s completely free inside the community.
