inner wisdom in business

Most of the content I see online about scaling a business is masculine-coded.

It praises the “go, go, go!” attitude, pushing through with force and never giving up.

Girlfriend, I have TRIED to keep pushing nonstop, for weeks and months on end—and believe me when I say it’s not sustainable.

It leads to burnout, exhaustion, and ultimately, a dumpster fire of a business. 🔥

But what if I told you that there’s another way to grow your business? One that doesn’t involve hustling until you collapse?

What if I told you that the key to scaling your business lies within yourself, in your own inner wisdom and intuition?

It may sound too good to be true, but hear me out. Your inner wisdom is a powerful tool that can help you make better decisions, stay aligned with your values, and ultimately grow your business in a sustainable and fulfilling way.

The Myth of “Hustle Culture”

Let’s first address the elephant in the room: hustle culture.

This is the idea that success only comes to those who:

  • Work tirelessly
  • Push through any obstacle
  • Never take a break

Now, I will be the first to say that I am all for putting in the work and taking intentional action to bring your dreams to life.

But when it comes to hustling at the expense of your health, happiness, and relationships?
How on Earth can anyone think that it’s worth it to throw away the gift of life for a few extra dollars or likes on social media?

Hustle culture is not only unsustainable, but it also perpetuates harmful beliefs and behaviors. It reinforces the idea that success must come at the cost of our well-being and personal lives… and that’s so not true.

What is Intuition, and How Can It Help You Grow Your Business?

Intuition is often described as a “gut feeling” or “inner knowing.”

It’s that voice inside of you that guides you towards what feels right and aligned for you, even if it goes against what others may say or what society deems as “successful.”

It’s a powerful tool that we all possess, but many of us ignore it—and we instead listen to what our best friends, parents, teachers, or bosses say.

But here’s the thing: only YOU have lived your life.

Only YOU know what truly lights you up and brings you fulfillment.

So, why not tap into that inner wisdom to grow your business?

Intuition can help you:

  • Make aligned decisions for your business
  • Stay true to your values and vision, even when faced with challenges
  • Innovate and think outside of the box
  • Avoid burnout and prioritize self-care
  • Connect with your audience on a deeper level

How to Tap Into Your Inner Wisdom

Everyone has the gift of intuition, and everyone can tap into it.

Some people might try to say otherwise to sell their “magical” intuition-enhancing products, but the truth is that you don’t need anything external to access your inner wisdom.

Here are some simple ways to tap into your intuition:

  • Take time for stillness and silence. This can be through meditation, journaling, or simply taking a walk in nature.
  • Listen to your body. Pay attention to how you physically feel when making decisions or taking action. If it feels off or draining, that’s a sign that it may not be aligned with your intuition.
  • Trust your initial gut reaction. Often, our first instinct is guided by our intuition, but we talk ourselves out of it due to fear or doubt.
  • Get in touch with your emotions. Our emotions can give us valuable information about what feels true and authentic for us.

Trusting Yourself and Your Inner Wisdom

One of the key components of tapping into your inner wisdom is trusting yourself.

This can be challenging, especially if you’ve been conditioned to seek validation and approval from others.

But remember: YOU are the one living your life and running your business. No one else knows what’s best for you better than YOU do.

So take a deep breath, silence the outside noise, and listen to that inner voice.

Trust in your intuition, and trust in yourself.

That’s where the real magic happens.

What Intuition Looks Like in Your Business

Let’s say you have an online business selling handmade jewelry.

You’ve been following all of the “hustle culture” advice and have been working nonstop to grow your business. But you’re feeling burnt out, overwhelmed, and disconnected from your creativity.

You decide to take a break and tune into your intuition.

Through journaling and stillness, you realize that what truly brings you joy is creating unique, custom pieces for your customers.

You also realize that you’ve been pushing too hard to constantly release new collections and keep up with the latest trends… thanks to the rapid rise and fall of new TikTok sounds.

With this newfound clarity from listening to your inner wisdom, you change your business model to focus on creating one-of-a-kind pieces for each customer.

This not only brings more fulfillment and joy into your work, but it also sets you apart from other jewelry businesses and attracts a loyal customer base. You’re able to charge more for your pieces and feel more aligned with your values and vision.

All of this is possible just by tapping into your intuition and trusting yourself. This is just one example of how intuition can transform your business in unimaginable ways.

Intuitive Business Practices to Try Today

Ready for some action steps? Here are some ways you can tap into your intuition more to grow your business:

  • Schedule Regular Intuition Check-Ins: Set aside 10-15 minutes each morning or evening to reflect on your business and its direction.
  • Create an Intuition Journal: Maintain a dedicated journal to write down intuitive hits or feelings about your business. Review these regularly to identify patterns.
  • Establish Intuition Metrics: Define specific indicators, such as energy levels or excitement, to measure the alignment of business decisions with your intuitive senses.
  • Use Intuitive A/B Testing: For business decisions, come up with two options and notice your intuitive response to each. Track the outcomes to build trust in your intuition over time.
  • Incorporate Mindfulness During Work Tasks: Take two minutes of deep breathing before important meetings or decision-making to clear your mind and allow your intuition to come forward.
  • Seek Feedback from Trusted Sources: Occasionally talk with trusted individuals who understand your intuitive approach and can offer honest feedback when you’re unsure about your gut feelings.
  • Envision Future Scenarios: Regularly visualize different trajectories for your business and note how each one feels, tuning into your intuition about the right path.
  • Reflect on Past Successes: Explore previous business successes and decipher the intuitive choices that led there. Use these insights for similar future decisions.
