Is AI Killing Content Creators? What I Automate (and What I Never Will)

By Samantha Warren

Everyone on the internet seems to have decided that AI is killing content creators… LOL. I had a whole note about it sitting in my Wispr Flow app (a voice dictation app I love, and no, I’m not sponsored), because the argument keeps popping up everywhere. It’s so easy to spin up UGC videos with AI now, there are AI avatars and deepfakes, and all kinds of crazy stuff is happening, so people are saying creators are done.

I see it differently. I think AI is ending one specific type of creator, and if you’re reading this, I’m guessing you’d rather make sure that creator isn’t you. So grab a coffee (I had a massive iced coffee for this one), and let’s talk about what I automate in my own business, what I keep for myself, and how to set things up so your work gives you a life of ease and flow.

If you’d rather watch than read, the full video is right here:

The kind of creator AI is actually replacing

The creator AI is replacing is the one who goes to ChatGPT, types “Give me 15 content ideas,” and copies whatever it hands back word for word. There’s nothing original in that ideation process, so there’s nothing about the content that a machine couldn’t make on its own.

I’ve been in the marketing industry for 10 years, and my perspective is simple. You can automate parts of the distribution of an idea, and you should never automate the creation of the idea, because the idea is where your human perspective is actually valuable. That’s why I would never advise anybody to get all their content ideas from AI or to type “Hey, give me a marketing strategy” into ChatGPT and run with it. Both of those skip the human element and the understanding of your business and your people that it takes to make strategy and content that actually work.

So I want to ask you the question I asked myself while I was filming this: if AI can make your content, what’s the part of your content that only you can make? Before you keep reading, DM me on Instagram at @SamanthaLeeWarren and tell me: what’s the one thing in your content that only you could have made? 👇

What I mean when I say “AI slop”

When I say AI slop, I’m talking about content where the idea comes completely from AI and the whole thing is AI-generated. Content that’s AI-assisted is a totally different animal, and I use a lot of it.

You can take an original idea or an original thought, use a little bit of AI to speed up how it gets out into the world, and it can still be high quality. The difference is that the idea stays original and intact, in its original form, the whole way through. That’s the human magic, my friend, and it’s what’s going to set you apart from the sea of AI slop out there.

What “getting paid to exist” actually means

My brand is called Paid to Be Her, and the whole premise is getting paid to exist, in a practical way. We combine manifestation with systems that actually support you as you build your dream life, so we talk about automation, AI, brand building, world-building, and all the beautiful things in between.

A lot of people like to say this is a myth, some airy fairy delulu idea. I get why it sounds that way, so here’s what it actually means to me.

WAKE UP AND PUT IN SOME REPS. Getting paid to exist still involves work. The idea is to structure your business so your work keeps paying you when you’re not working. That looks like scalable offers, such as digital products and courses, that you can sell once to many people without personally delivering every single piece of them.

STAY IN YOUR ZONE OF GENIUS. Getting paid to exist also means spending more of your time in your zone of genius (your universe-blessed gift, as I like to call it). The things you don’t enjoy, aren’t good at, or that sit outside that zone get automated or delegated so you have more room for what you’re here to do. If you’re a content creator, that means giving yourself the time and space to think, come up with ideas, and be a thought leader, because that’s the only way you’ll stand out.

Some people will sell you the idea that you have to work 12-hour days and dedicate your entire life to your work to be successful. That’s the corporate mindset, and it doesn’t hold up anymore. Work smarter, not harder is our motto over here, and that’s the foundation of everything I share. You won’t catch me destroying my health just to grow my brand. I did that once, a long, long time ago, and we are not going down that path again.

AI is the power-up in your Minecraft world

I think so many manifestation girlies want to build brands because they’re natural creators. They love building things, and manifesting your dream life is a lot like building a world. The best example I have is Minecraft. I don’t play it, but I get the gist, and building your dream life is literally building your world block by block, day by day, with little actions adding up to big results.

Building a brand works the same way. It’s lots of little things over time that build up the idea of your brand in someone else’s mind. Everything you post, everything you put into the world, and the way you present yourself all shape how people see you.

So if Minecraft has power-ups (I’m sorry if I get this wrong, Minecraft fans), you can think of AI as a power-up. It doesn’t play the game for you, and it can help you get to the next level faster. Ask yourself what the next level looks like for you right now, whether that’s in your life, your business, or your fitness journey.

For me, my AI tools are those power-ups. I primarily use Claude, and I use ChatGPT for some things, especially research, where I prefer it. I’ve even got an AI-assisted workflow for my fitness journey that keeps track of my nutrition and my goals. No matter which area of your life you’re trying to level up, AI can help you do it. The key is finding the right workflow for you, based on the type of business you have, what you’ve got going on, and your existing tech stack, instead of copying whatever some other creator says is the best.

A real example: how this video actually gets made

I’m posting three times a week on YouTube, and honey, I would not be doing that if I didn’t use AI. I’m just telling you that right now. If you were uploading three high-quality videos a week with cool edits and all of that by hand, I think YouTube would have to be your full-time job.

YouTube isn’t my full-time job. I have a whole brand with lots going on, and I’m working with clients too. Your girl’s busy, and that’s exactly why I have systems in place to support the output I want to create.

Here’s the fun fact: AI edited the video this post came from, and I’ve been blown away by how good AI video editing has gotten. I’m saying that as someone who doesn’t personally like editing videos. If you love editing, I’m not telling you to outsource it to AI, so stay in your zone of genius, girl. For me, editing just isn’t my thing. I don’t enjoy it, and I don’t want to spend eight hours doing cuts and adding effects. Letting AI handle it means I get to stay in flow and wake up excited to work on stuff every day.

The same goes for the boring, monotonous stuff like managing my finances. I have an AI-powered financial dashboard that helps me stay on top of bills and track expenses, because I don’t want to type every single expense in by hand every month, hello? I’d rather be at the beach, on a hike, at the pool, or petting my cats.

And the ideas? Those are still all mine. The thinking, the opinions, and the stories come from my own noggin, and AI helps with the production and the distribution.

Buying back your time is a manifestation practice

I might get some hate for this, but I truly think it’s so important for creators to learn to use AI, because it makes your life so much easier and makes creating so much more fun. Honestly, I’m disappointed that so many creators are against using it at all, because it’s a goldmine.

Every smart, rich person in the world buys back their time so they can spend it on impactful things, or on the things they actually want to do. As a creator or business owner, learning AI is the exact same move.

Claiming your time back is a manifestation practice in itself. If you’re manifesting the millionaire version of yourself, learning to use AI and automation is a power move, because you’re acting as if you’re already the version of you who has the help. She has the private chef, the personal trainer, and whoever else she’s going to hire to support her day-to-day life, and you get to start living like her now.

Your purpose needs a system to get you there

This was my closing thought in the video, and it’s the one I want you to sit with. Discovering your life’s purpose is a beautiful first step, and if you actually want to achieve it, you have to build a system that takes you to your goal.

So much manifestation content stops at “find your purpose” and leaves out the next step, which is executing the plan and making moves to get there. Manifestation loves movement, and that’s the whole philosophy behind how I teach it. It’s so important to take aligned action, do the scary thing, and make moves toward your goals. With AI and automation, you buy back your time so you can make even bigger moves and have even bigger ideas.

The “only you” filter: what to keep and what to automate

Grab a notebook (or open a note on your phone) and run your content process through these questions. They’ll show you what to protect and what you can hand to AI.

  • 1) What’s the part of my content that only I can make, like my stories, my opinions, or the way I see things?
  • 2) Where am I currently asking AI for ideas instead of bringing my own?
  • 3) Which parts of making and sharing my content do I not enjoy or not do well (editing, formatting, scheduling, repurposing)?
  • 4) Which boring, monotonous tasks outside my content (finances, admin, tracking) could AI help me keep on top of?
  • 5) If I were the version of me who already had help, what would I stop doing by hand this week?

Protect everything you wrote under question 1, and start automating from question 3 down.

FAQ

1) Is AI killing content creators?

I think AI is ending one kind of creator: the one who gets every idea from AI and copies it word for word. Creators who bring their own ideas, stories, and perspective can use AI to make and share their content faster while staying original.

2) How should content creators use AI?

Use AI for the production and distribution of your ideas, like editing, formatting, repurposing, and research. Keep the ideation, your opinions, and your stories for yourself, because that’s where your human perspective is valuable.

3) What is AI slop?

AI slop is content where the idea comes completely from AI and the whole thing is AI-generated. AI-assisted content, where an original human idea gets help from AI to reach people faster, can still be high quality.

4) Should I use ChatGPT to come up with content ideas?

I’d bring the idea yourself, every time, and then use AI to help organize it, package it, and get it out into the world.

5) What does “getting paid to exist” mean?

To me, it means structuring your business so your work keeps paying you when you’re not working, with scalable offers like digital products and courses, and spending more of your time in your zone of genius while AI and delegation handle the rest.

Here’s what I want you to take away…

All of these thoughts are connected in a weird little web, and the core point is this. If you’re building something, whether it’s a world, a brand, or a business, ask yourself what the part is that only you can make and only you can do. What’s the magic you bring to the thing? Protect it, cherish it, and don’t lose it at any cost. Then automate the rest, because that’s what it looks like to step into your power as a creative in the world and become the woman whose ideas are fully hers and whose systems carry everything else.

Tell me what you’re automating first

I’d love to hear where you’re at with all of this. DM me on Instagram at @SamanthaLeeWarren and tell me: what are you going to automate first, and which of my AI-assisted processes would you like me to break down next? I read every single one. ✨
