10 Healthy Habits to Help You Feel Better Year-Round!

I’ve been trying hard to improve my lifestyle this summer, and that involves forming good habits to maintain my health. To stay well, it’s important for us to take care of ourselves year-round. Today, I want to share some of my top tips for staying healthy during any season.


Here are 10 year-round tips for better health:


1. Drink plenty of water.

I know everyone says to “drink eight glasses of water per day,” but it really does make a difference. I try to get my eight glasses in by having one right after I wake up, one right before bed, and the rest throughout the day. Drinking more water has been great for my health, and it has improved my mood! Try drinking more water to stay healthy year-round.

2. Have fruit for dessert.

I have a sweet tooth, so I always crave dessert after my meals. Instead of indulging in processed, unhealthy sweets, I try to eat fruit for dessert instead. It satisfies my sugar cravings and gives me a natural energy boost.

3. Keep up with your doctor’s appointments.

It’s important to have regular check-ups to make sure you are healthy. I am in the process of finding a new primary care doctor and dentist so I can keep up with my appointments.

4. Wear sunscreen every time you go outside.

Don’t neglect skincare! This past year, I have spent more time caring for my skin and making sure that it’s well-protected when I go outside. I ensure my makeup has enough SPF in it to protect me from harmful rays.

5. Stretch at least once per day.

Stretching is an amazing way to improve your flexibility and posture. I always stretch before and after exercise. You could also try stretching right when you get out of bed in the morning. It’s a healthy way to start your day!

6. Find a physical activity you enjoy, and do it often.

If you hate the gym, exercise can be a drag. I highly recommend finding a physical activity you enjoy doing, whether it’s dancing, walking around your neighborhood, swimming, or hiking. I personally love swimming in the ocean, but there are plenty of other possibilities. Once you find an activity you enjoy, getting fit will be a breeze!

7. Always look on the bright side of things.

Try to stay in a positive mindset as much as you can. Thinking positive thoughts will help you to take better care of yourself.

8. Don’t neglect your mental health.

Your mental health is just as important as your physical health. If you need help, don’t be afraid to go talk to someone. Getting the help of a mental health professional can greatly improve your quality of life.

9. Remove unhealthy influences from your life.

Unhealthy influences can seriously harm your well-being. Whether it’s cigarettes, a toxic friend, or junk food, try to cut out all the not-so-good influences so you can focus on becoming a healthier and happier person.

10. Make time for regular self-care.

With my busy schedule, I have found it difficult to make time for self-care in the past. Now, I am doing my best to enjoy some “me time” every day and do more of the things that I love. Life is short, so why not enjoy it?
