I want to tell you all about my new morning routine. A couple of weeks ago, I started getting up at 5 a.m. every day. (Even on weekends!)
I know that probably sounds crazy. But I promise it’s not that bad, and my whole life has changed for the better as a result. I’m happier, healthier, and more productive.
It’s not just me either. Research has shown that there are many benefits to waking up early instead of sleeping in. Today, I’m going to share 10 of them with you.
Here are 10 benefits of waking up early:
1. I’m way more productive.
In the first four hours of my day, I accomplish A LOT of work. I wake up energized and ready to take on the day. By 9 a.m., I’ve already crossed three or four things off my to-do list for the day. Because I have uninterrupted time to myself in the early morning, I can focus on completing important tasks without any distractions.
This benefit alone is a game changer! I’ve been able to get a lot more done now that I’m waking up early.
2. I don’t feel rushed or stressed out in the morning.
Waking up early eliminates a lot of the stress I used to feel on days when I slept in. Instead of rushing to get ready for class or work, I can take my time and enjoy my morning. Now that I’ve been waking up earlier, mornings don’t suck for me anymore. It’s actually my favorite part of the day!
3. I have more free time later in the day.
Because I can cross many items off my to-do list in the morning, I have more time to do other things in the afternoon. Sometimes, I keep working on personal projects (like my blog or designs), but other times I just relax or take a nap. My newfound freedom in the afternoon feels amazing. And for once, I have time to cook myself a proper dinner!
4. I have a regular sleep schedule.
Waking up early has regulated my sleep schedule, and I actually get MORE sleep than I used to, believe it or not. That’s because I’m always tired in the evening after having a long day. I’m asleep by 10 p.m. every single night, and often earlier than that. A regular sleep schedule has worked wonders for my mental and physical health. I feel amazing when I wake up!

5. I get more uninterrupted time to myself.
Not many people get up at 5 a.m. like I do. In fact, it’s the only time of day that no one is bothering me. I’m usually an extroverted person, but lately I’ve cherished my alone time. I think spending quality time with yourself is so important. Getting up early gives me more “me time,” and I love it!
6. I am able to prioritize my fitness.
The first thing I do after I wake up is go to the gym. Before I started getting up early, I would work out in the afternoon or evening. It was OK, but sometimes I had a hard time fitting my workouts into my schedule. Now that I have a whole block of uninterrupted time, I can work out as many days as I want! (And I love the gym, so it’s usually every day.) I’ve made way more progress toward my fitness goals as a result of my new morning routine.
7. I eat a full breakfast every morning.
Right after I hit the gym, I come home and cook myself a healthy breakfast. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.
Breakfast food has always been my favorite. I’m happier now that I have time to eat it every day. It’s the perfect way to get energized and prepared for the day ahead.
8. I can plan my schedule better.
With a regular morning routine, my schedule is a lot more organized. I can block off time for other things later in the day after having a productive morning. Consistency is key!
9. I feel more motivated to take on the day!
I don’t know what it is about getting up early that motivates me more, but it really makes a difference! Maybe it’s a psychological thing. I feel like such a boss getting up at 5 a.m. It makes me feel like I can do anything.
10. I have a healthier lifestyle overall.
It’s been proven that people who wake up early have healthier lifestyles. I am no exception to this! I have noticed both physical and mental benefits since I started getting up early. If you want to improve yourself, I highly recommend waking up earlier. I think you will be surprised by how it makes you feel!
